The Judiciary Committee has scheduled two hearings to vet Bondi, with the second scheduled for Thursday.
Since leaving the White House, Trump has been embroiled in a number of legal cases, including being charged at both the state and federal level related to his alleged efforts to subvert the 2020 election. After his reelection, the Justice Department ended its case, though special counsel Jack Smith released a report overnight saying he believed their evidence would have been sufficient to convict Trump if he hadn’t been returning to office.
Trump has denied wrongdoing and cast the various investigations into his conduct as witch hunts.
