1:44Now PlayingSen. Ron Johnson, R-Wisc., questioned Robert F. Kennedy Jr. on Wednesday in his confirmation hearing for health and human services secretary about “putting political differences aside” and looking into oversight over federal health agencies.
“I don't think anybody is going to be able to do this like I have because of my peculiar experience," Kennedy said. "I've litigated against these agencies. When you litigate against them, you get a PhD in corporate capture and how to unravel it.”
"I'm not here because I want a position or a job. I have a very good life and a happy family. This is something I don't need. I want to do this because we're going to fix it," Kennedy said, saying he believed in radical transparency.
For years, Kennedy, an environmental lawyer, has spread misinformation and falsehoods about vaccines and their safety, including the heavily debunked claim that they cause autism. Kennedy has also promoted drinking raw milk, which the Food and Drug Administration says can pose a “serious health risk.” His views on these issues and others have prompted concern among health experts about his nomination.
Kennedy, the son of Robert F. Kennedy and Ethel Kennedy, ran for president as an independent in 2024 before dropping out of the race and endorsing Trump.
