2:39Now PlayingPresident Donald Trump suggested that the Federal Aviation Administration’s diversity efforts may have played a role in a midair collision Wednesday night near Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport.
Trump, citing the FAA’s hiring plan, said it included consideration for people with hearing and vision issues, among other disabilities. He said the FAA had also believed their workforce was “too white.”
There is an ongoing investigation into the crash and officials have not yet found what led to the disaster.
Trump was asked by a reporter how he came to the conclusion that diversity had something to do with the crash.
“Because I have common sense,” he said, “and unfortunately a lot of people don’t.”
