Ed Ulman, president and CEO of Alaska Public Media, testified before the House DOGE subcommittee on Wednesday, arguing to keep federal support for public broadcasting.

“Congress's support for the mission of public broadcasting — to provide every American access to free non-commercial quality educational programming — remains critical. It allows us to connect Alaskans with each other and with our neighbors in the lower 48, and to connect the nation with us,” Ulman said.

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., the committee chair, has accused NPR and PBS of bias. The heads of both organizations testified in Wednesday’s hearing.

PBS, NPR and their respective local stations are funded in part by a $535 million appropriation provided by Congress through the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, in addition to substantial foundation, corporate and viewer donation support.
