During Ramadan, many of the world’s 1.8 billion Muslims abstained from food and water from dawn to dusk. Eid, the festive end of the month-long fast, is marked by prayers, followed by family get-togethers and feasts.
In Doha, Qatar, worshippers gathered for prayers in Education City Stadium, which recently hosted matches during the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
In Kwale, Kenya, thousands gathered for prayers on a beach along the Indian Ocean.
Meanwhile, geo-political realities complicated other Eid celebrations. In Gaza, Muslims gathered amid rubble, amid a resurgence of Israeli airstrikes and a continuation of a humanitarian aid blockade.
