YouTube Description
as posted by the channelCanada’s center-left Liberal Party will form the country’s next government after voters cast their ballots in this year’s federal election, the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation projected Monday night.
The win, which will keep Prime Minister Mark Carney in power, was a turnaround for the Liberals. The party faced turmoil after former Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s resignation and U.S. President Donald Trump’s threats to start a trade war with America’s northern neighbor and make Canada the “51st state,” an action that requires Congress and, more than likely, the consent of Canadian voters.
“President Trump is trying to break us so that America can own us. That will never ever happen,” Carney told supporters Monday night. “Our old relationship with the United States, a relationship based on steadily increasing integration, is over.”
