0:39Now PlayingPresident Donald Trump said Wednesday that drug and pharmaceutical companies are "going to have to" come to the United States or face steep tariffs.
"We are going to give them a lot of time to do it," the president said of those companies building factories in the U.S. "But after that, it's going to be a tariff wall put up, and they won't be happy about it. But they'll be happy if they start building right now."
Trump said that "after a certain period of time," it will get tougher "and then it's going to be real hard to do business in this country."
The president's comments came during a White House event celebrating business investments in America. While drug imports were exempted from Trump's tariffs earlier this month, he has said his administration plans to "put tariffs on the pharmaceutical companies, and they are going to all want to come back" to the U.S.
