1:08Now PlayingSwedish activist Greta Thunberg said Israel's seizure of the Gaza-bound aid boat carrying her and 12 other activists was an "illegal act," accusing the country's military of illegally kidnapping the group in international waters.
Speaking to reporters in Paris after being deported from Israel, Thunberg described the action as "yet another violation of international rights, adding to the list of countless of such, especially towards Palestinians, that Israel is committing by blocking and preventing humanitarian aid from entering Gaza.”
The flotilla was trying to get food, baby formula and medical supplies to Gaza, where hunger is widespread and a humanitarian crisis is worsening, international officials say.
Israeli’s Foreign Ministry said in a post on X that “the ‘selfie yacht’ of the ‘celebrities’ is safely making its way to the shores of Israel.”
Four of the volunteers, including Thunberg, were deported. Eight others are still detained, according to the Freedom Flotilla Coalition, which sponsored this boat and other aid attempts to Gaza.
