6:30Now PlayingAfter nearly two weeks of rocket fire between Israel and Iran and a U.S. strike against Iranian nuclear facilities, President Trump announced on Monday, June 23 that a “complete and total ceasefire” had been reached. As of Tuesday, June 24, hostilities were high but the ceasefire had seemed to hold, with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu calling the campaign against Iran a “historic victory.”
But, this episode in a long simmering conflict between the U.S., Israel and Iran raised fear this war could escalate in the longer term, draw in the U.S. more deeply, and even become a nuclear conflict.
