as posted by the channelPresident Donald Trump fired back Tuesday as his onetime adviser and Tesla CEO Elon Musk blasted the administration’s big bill, suggesting, “We might have to put DOGE on Elon.”
“You know what DOGE is?” Trump told reporters as he left the White House for a trip to Florida, referring to the Department of Government Efficiency initiative that Musk once led. “DOGE is the monster that might have to go back and eat Elon. Wouldn’t that be terrible?”
Musk took to X on Monday to slam the bill’s spending and suggested he will work to primary members of Congress who vote for the legislation.
The president said Musk was upset that the bill proposes eliminating electric vehicle subsidies. On his Truth Social platform early Tuesday morning, Trump wrote that Musk knew he was against electric vehicle incentives introduced by the Biden administration. “Electric cars are fine, but not everyone should be forced to own one,” the president said. “Elon may get more subsidy than any human being in history, by far, and without subsidies, Elon would probably have to close up shop and head back home to South Africa.”
Asked earlier by a reporter whether he’ll deport Elon Musk, Trump said “I don’t know. We’ll have to take a look.”
