YouTube Description
as posted by the channelThe House gave final approval early Friday to President Donald Trump's request to slash more than $9 billion of already approved federal funding for foreign aid and public broadcasting. The package, a major victory for Trump, rescinds $8 billion for several foreign aid programs and about $1.1 billion for the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, the entity that steers funding to PBS, NPR and local stations across the country. The 216-213 vote marks the first time in more than two decades that a president has successfully proposed rescissions to Congress. The administration had indicated it would pursue more rescissions packages if this one was approved. PBS News' Lisa Desjardins takes a closer look at what programs were included in the rescissions package and what happens next.
