1:58Now PlayingPresident Donald Trump managed expectations for his upcoming meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, saying Thursday that he hoped to “set the table” for the next conversation.
Trump and Putin are scheduled to meet Friday in Alaska to discuss Putin’s yearslong war in Ukraine.
Trump said he’d know within the first few minutes of the meeting “where everybody stands.”
“If it's a bad meeting, it will end very quickly and if it's a good meeting, we're gonna end up getting peace in the pretty near future,” Trump said.
Trump made the remarks while speaking to reporters at an event in the Oval Office to mark the 90th anniversary of Social Security.
