But the move is stirring questions, as a law was passed banning the app from being used on government-issued devices.
In 2022, the ban became a law after the Senate voted, unanimously, to ban federal employees from using the popular social media app on government-issued devices.
The TikTok ban first emerged in 2020 when Trump said it posed national security concerns to citizens and the government due to its Chinese parent company.
In 2024, President Trump gave ByteDance, TikTok’s Chinese-owned parent company, 90 days to find a non-Chinese buyer, or be banned in the United States.
