as posted by the channelPresident Donald Trump seemed to downplay domestic abuse Monday during an event at the Museum of the Bible as he touted his crackdown on crime in Washington, D.C.
"If a man has a little fight with the wife, they say this was a crime, see, so now I can't claim 100%," Trump said. "But, we are, we are a safe city."
Trump also suggested that crime would be lower if "much lesser things" like domestic violence were not included in the data. In August, the Trump administration took control of the D.C. police department and deployed National Guard Troops to the nation's capital to crack down on homelessness and crime. Trump has also threatened to send Guard troops to other cities, including Chicago and New York.
