as posted by the channelPresident Donald Trump said Tuesday that he was not notified in advance of Israel's strike in Qatar's capital city that targeted Hamas officials and was "not thrilled about the whole situation."
"I will tell you this, I was very unhappy about it," Trump said. "Very unhappy about every aspect.”
Qatar, a U.S. ally, has played a major role in working to mediate a cease-fire agreement in Gaza between Israel and Hamas. Earlier in the day, Trump posted on his Truth Social platform that "this was a decision made by" Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and "it was not a decision made by me."
"Unilaterally bombing inside Qatar, a Sovereign Nation and close Ally of the United States, that is working very hard and bravely taking risks with us to broker Peace, does not advance Israel or America’s goals," he said.
Trump also said he "immediately directed Special Envoy Steve Witkoff to inform the Qataris of the impending attack," but the alert came too late to stop the strike. Qatari Foreign Ministry spokesperson Majed al-Ansari said reports of advanced warnings about the strike are "baseless" and "the communication received from one of the American officials came during the sound of explosions resulting from the Israeli attack in Doha."
