as posted by the channelAs fears of a possible government shutdown looms, congressional lawmakers are racing to pass a stopgap spending bill.
House Republicans proposed a bill that would keep the government funded through Nov. 21, which is expected to pass this week. The bill is not expected to make it through the Senate, as Democrats are hoping to use this opportunity to ask President Donald Trump and Republicans for specific items, including reversing Medicaid cuts and extending tax credits for the Affordable Care Act.
Congress must pass a measure by Sept. 30 to avoid a shutdown. PBS News' Lisa Desjardins has more.
