YouTube Description
as posted by the channelIf it seems hard to pick the perfect Christmas tree, imagine going to an auction to buy hundreds of trees that you will sell to others.
During what's known as the "Largest Christmas Tree Auction in the World," buyers from up and down the East Coast descended on Buffalo Valley Produce Auction in Mifflinburg, Pennsylvania. They were at the auction, held on a Friday in late November, to bid on tree lots, making up around 45,000 freshly cut trees.
Live Christmas tree sales are a billion dollar industry, and the bets buyers make on lots of Frasers, Balsams, White Pines and more dictate their seasonal success.
PBS News’ Tim McPhillips visited the auction — and tried to keep up as trees were sold in repetitive lightning rounds.
