6:29Now PlayingAlex Pretti, the 37-year-old ICU nurse who was killed by federal agents in Minneapolis on Saturday, was “an upstanding citizen,” according to his former mentor. Dr. Aasma Shaukat hired Pretti for his first healthcare job and worked with him for multiple years. She wasn’t surprised to learn that Pretti was at the protest. “He encouraged everybody to be standing up for their rights and for each other,” she told PBS News.
Shaukat spoke to Digital Anchor Deema Zein about her memories of Pretti and what she hopes people take away from his death.
