Lawmakers in New Mexico approved legislation to launch an investigation into a ranch that was once owned by Jeffrey Epstein.

Zorro Ranch is 30 miles outside of Santa Fe, and Epstein owned it from 1993 until his death in 2019.

The bipartisan bill, which unanimously passed the state’s House of Representatives, will set up a committee called the “Truth Commission” to look into allegations about the property.

It’s a renewed attempt to investigate the ranch — former New Mexico Attorney General Hector Balderas launched a probe of the ranch in 2019, but it was put on hold at the request of federal investigators. No charges were filed.

Days after the legislation passed, New Mexico’s current attorney general said his team would reopen their investigation and planned to work with the lawmakers’ truth commission.

The commission is expected to release an interim report by July 31, with a final report due by year’s end.
