YouTube Description
as posted by the channelSen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., questioned Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. about prescription medication pricing on the Trump administration’s new drug website on Wednesday in a hearing on President Donald Trump’s 2027 budget request.
Warren said that pharmaceutical companies that list their branded drugs on the website, Trump Rx, get relief from the president’s 100% tariffs while still charging more than the generic versions of the same medication.
“Did you sign off on these sweetheart deals for Big Pharma, or was this all President Trump’s idea?” Warren asked.
Kennedy responded that the tariff relief only applies to companies that produce their drugs in the U.S., and again committed to releasing the details of the deals, except for proprietary information and trade secrets.
“You have the power to make this deal yourself,” Kennedy said, referring to Congress. “Why don’t you do that? We did this because you refused to do it.”
Kennedy appeared before the Senate Committee on Finance.
Kennedy was expected to face questioning about his controversial changes to vaccine policy, as well as new dietary guidelines and proposed Medicaid cuts. Republican Sen. Bill Cassidy, a physician, committee member and influential chair of the Senate Health Committee, will have opportunities in two hearings Wednesday to press Kennedy, whose approach to vaccines he’s criticized in the past.
