5:42Now PlayingVice President JD Vance said Tuesday at a White House press briefing that anyone — Republican or Democrat — is welcome to apply for President Donald Trump's newly announced “Anti-Weaponization Fund," intended to compensate Americans who feel they have been unlawfully targeted by the Department of Justice for political, personal or ideological reasons.
Vance suggested that could include Hunter Biden, the son of former President Joe Biden who pleaded guilty to tax offenses and was convicted on felony drug charges before receiving a full pardon from his father before he left the White House.
Vance said Trump has pardoned a number of Democrats. He added that each person who files a claim would go through a vetting process and would be considered on a case-by-case basis. He didn't rule out the possibility of Jan. 6 rioters receiving compensation through this fund.
“I'm not committing to giving anybody money or committing to giving no one money. What I'm committing to is a legal process to review these claims and to make sure that people who are mistreated by their government get a little bit of compensation because of it,” Vance said.
