0:54Now PlayingIn New York, Gilgo Beach serial killer Rex Heuermann was sentenced to life in prison without the chance of parole after admitting to the murder of eight women.
The Long Island architect showed little emotion at Wednesday's hearing, during which loved ones delivered emotional statements about the victims.
The judge showed his emotions, at one point calling Heuermann "a despicable man and a coward." The case gained national attention after the 2010 discovery of human remains near Long Island's Gilgo Beach about 50 miles from Manhattan.
