2:46Now PlayingDave Portnoy says Barstool Sports does not carry "the same weight" as the established, mainstream media.
"The main Barstool stuff is still, generally, 98% of the time, meant to make you laugh," he told PBS News' Amna Nawaz. "It is sort of a comedy brand."
He later added that "seeing a quote from Barstool still does not carry, for most people, the same weight, I don't think, as like established, blue-blood type news organizations — nor should it, really."
In his new memoir, "Cancel Me If You Can," Portnoy shares how he grew Barstool from a free gambling newsletter into a media goliath.
He spoke to Amna Nawaz for the latest episode of the PBS News' podcast, "Settle In." They discussed his book and more.
