On this anniversary, guest host William Brangham asked Esther Brimmer, a senior fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations and a former assistant secretary of state during the Obama administration, if President Donald Trump has irreversibly changed the state of U.S. foreign policy.
Brimmer noted that although the U.S. has created some “real concerns” about the long-term commitment to its alliances, there was going to be a “transition” between the U.S. and its allies where the balance between the two needed “to change.”
