0:54Now PlayingA former Wisconsin judge will avoid prison time for helping a Mexican defendant in her courtroom evade arrest by immigration agents last year. However, Hannah Dugan was ordered to pay a $5,000 fine as part of her felony obstruction conviction.
The judge in the case cited Dugan's career of public service, saying, "This is a situation where an otherwise good person made a bad decision in the moment."
Dugan's actions ultimately failed to prevent ICE agents from arresting the defendant outside the courthouse. He was later deported.
