3:22Now PlayingActing Attorney General Todd Blanche disagreed Wednesday with Sen. Alex Padilla’s assertion that there hasn’t been justice in the killings of Alex Pretti and Renée Good by ICE agents in Minnesota.
Padilla asked Blanche about the role the Justice Department should play in investigations of federal officers during the acting attorney general's Senate confirmation hearing Wednesday.
Blanche said “the mere passage of time between January and today doesn’t mean there’s no justice” and that “these investigations do take time.”
Padilla, a California Democrat, also mentioned the fatal ICE shootings of Joan Sebastian Guerrero on Monday in Maine and of Lorenzo Salgado Araujo last week in Houston.
“What we have seen is people continuing to die,” Padilla said, “not just in detention facilities, but on the streets of America.”
