1:50Now Playing"Huge opportunities" exist for Democrats in the upcoming midterm elections, says Ben Wikler.
"Democrats are overperforming in elections at all levels," he said, noting two big victories for the party in last year's Georgia Public Service Commission elections. The wins gave Democrats their largest statewide margins of victory in more than two decades.
"These were massive, kind of, wave elections that most people weren't paying attention to," he told PBS News' Geoff Bennett.
Wikler, who chaired the Democratic Party of Wisconsin for six years, is the author of a new book, "This is the Plan," which details his prescription for "saving" America's democracy.
He joined Bennett for the latest episode of PBS News' podcast, Settle In, to discuss his book, the future of the Democratic Party and more.
