1:52Now PlayingWhat should Democrats look for in a 2028 presidential candidate?
"Someone who's committed to making real change not just at the surface, but to the structures of how power works to make this a freer and fairer democracy for everyone and who's focused on the lives of working people," says Ben Wikler.
"You want to have a government that is responsive to what the public wants," he later added.
Wikler, who chaired the Democratic Party of Wisconsin for six years, is the author of a new book, "This is the Plan," which details his prescription for "saving" America's democracy.
He joined Geoff Bennett for the latest episode of PBS News' podcast, Settle In, to discuss his book, the future of the Democratic Party and more.
