An elderly white man, John Henry Spooner, is facing firstdegree intentional murder charges for the fatal shooting of his unarmed neighbor, 13yearold AfricanAmerican Darius Simmons in May 2012. According to the criminal complaint, Spooner accused Simmons of stealing from his home. When Simmons denied it, Spooner shot him dead. Democracy Now! speaks to Kali Akuno of the Malcolm X Grassroots Movement, whose recent report "Operation Ghetto Storm," documents the extrajudicial killing of 313 Black people in 2012.
