7:21Now PlayingAlthough many Americans may be unfamiliar with the European Parliament, its elections are the "second-largest exercise of democracy" after India's, says David Adler of Democracy in Europe Movement 2025. With far-right and Green parties making significant gains, Adler says it's likely the newly-elected MEPs will fight to get climate policy and anti-immigration laws at the top of the agenda. "We’re seeing this big battle over who can speak for Europe," says Adler, "and whether that’s going to be an exclusive, all-white Europe or much more progressive Europe with climate justice at its heart."
