4:09Now PlayingAmid a slew of murders and sexual violence at the controversy-steeped Fort Hood U.S. Army Base, including the recent sexual assault and murder of Vanessa Guillén, top commander Major General John B. Richardson IV has been demoted and reassigned. In the past year alone, the base has seen 23 deaths and the disappearance of 13 soldiers. This comes as the U.S. base states it will be conducting an "in depth" investigation into Guillén's killing. "We have been very clear that the Army can no longer continue to investigate itself," says Air Force veteran Pam Campos-Palma, who leads the Vets for the People project, adding that Congress must provide proper oversight as the only institution "that can hold the Department of Defense accountable."
