We speak with Nairobi-based writer and political analyst Nanjala Nyabola, who says the Kenyan elections yield "terrible candidates," with the most recent election results following a decades-long tradition of election interference and miscommunication. "There's always been a reason to doubt the results," says Nyabola. She also discusses how the digital age has uplifted election systems like Kenya's as examples of how to thwart democracy for the West, and the impact of the drought in the Horn of Africa, where the United States says more than 18 million people are facing severe hunger.
