The House of Representatives appeared set to vote on Trump's budget bill Thursday as we went to air. Should Republicans manage to pass the legislation, the bill would be sent to Trump's desk to be signed into law. The bill massively increases funding for ICE, cuts $1 trillion from Medicaid over a decade and adds $3.3 trillion to the nation's debt.
"It makes people in the country who are in the bottom 30%, working hard to pay their bills, poorer, because it's stripping away healthcare from them, stripping away food assistance from them. And it is all in the name of giving tax breaks to the wealthiest. … The top 20% in this country get 60% of the benefits," says Democratic Congressmember Ro Khanna.
