Karen Read retrial - DAY 2 - Commonwealth's Case - Live watch & Attorney analyisis

The Commonwealth's new strategy is on full display in the retrial of Karen Read. While Mr. Lally tried to make the case about the people who testified, Mr. Brennan is focusing instead on claiming the high ground of "science, facts, and data" but falling back on "I hit him" just in case he can't get ARCCA excluded.

Day 1 started with firefighter Timothy Nuttall, a case study in confabulation who still hasn't learned that the vividness of his memories does not correlate with their accuracy. He finally landed on the right story - "I hit him, I hit him, I hit him" - on his fourth telling of it, while also recounting new times that she said it, even though it wasn't important enough for him to follow up on it. We then moved on to the direct examination of Kerry Roberts, who is so far scrupulously consistent with her testimony in the last trial, down to recounting the same stories of getting to know John and Karen. She still has a lot of testimony to come, so we'll see how well she sticks to her script in the retelling.
