My story is similar to many I hear from new patients…I visited multiple doctors for a health condition and was told either to…“Take this prescription,” or…“It is all in your head.”

It was extremely frustrating and why I decided to go to medical school - to help others with similar experiences. I finally found a doctor who listened to me and did the testing to identify and treat the root causes of my problem…and I began to get well.

My personal experiences healing from undiagnosed celiac disease, autoimmune disorders, severe adult-onset asthma, and mold toxicity have all been worthwhile steps in helping me to practice medicine the way I dreamed of doing. I know how it feels when illness puts your life on hold.

My background as a chemical engineer, and my health journey helped me create the framework for the way I practice medicine today. Data, science and research are at the foundation - which involves specialized testing to learn about each patient’s unique challenges with genetics, detoxification, toxins, nutrient status, the gut microbiome (imbalances, parasites, yeast) hormones, allergy and food sensitivities and many others.

Once I have the puzzle pieced together, I create a comprehensive, holistic, and personalized approach and partnership with each patient that includes a range of interventions, such as dietary changes, nutritional supplements, stress management techniques, and others.

At the core, I want to help people in the way that I wish I had been helped, years ago when I was suffering and feeling hopeless. The good news is that your body has a tremendous capacity to heal when it has everything it needs to run its biochemistry and physiology and is not overwhelmed by environmental or other toxic exposures.

If you are suffering with a health issue and you are not finding answers, or if you want to be proactive with your health, find a healthcare professional who will listen to you.

If you are looking for healthy resources, I have several free guides on my website, as well as DIY labs, articles, diet information and supplements that are all tools to assist you on your own journey.

Be Well,

Ann Shippy, MD
