15:35Now PlayingPresidential Candidate Bernie Sanders' campaign has officially sued the Democratic National Committee (DNC) Friday, December 18 2015, just one day from the Democrat Debate on ABC. He has sued for $600,000 a day for each day of not being able to access his voter data stored on NGP VAN's database. Debbie Wasserman Schultz says Bernie Sander's campaign staffers viewed and downloaded private voter data collected by Hillary Clinton's campaign staff.
Bernie Sanders fired the staffer responsible for the alleged breach, Josh Uretsky. Mr Uretsky has since defended himself, saying that the system NGP VAN had was porous to the point where Hillary's staff could also see Bernie's data, and what he did was intentionally view Hillary's data on the database, leaving markers, so the DNC could see what has happening and make remedies to the situation. He says that there was no intention on stealing any of Hillary's campaign data.
The allegations against Sander's team are that they searched for two very important pieces of data, "Show me all the Clinton people rated higher than 60" and "Show me all the people rated less than 30." The DNC has apparently extrapolated from these search terms that Bernie Sanders' team was attempting to see out of potential Democrat voters, who were less likely to vote for Hillary, so they could then, in turn, target them to bolster their campaign.
This story is a very deep rabbit hole. It goes beyond Wasserman-Schultz, Sanders, and Uretsky. It goes all the way from Nathaniel Pearlman to David DeCamillis to John Podesta to a person who may be Debbie Wasserman-Schultz's nephew, or relative in general, one Mr. Aharon Wasserman.
