15:24Now PlayingTed Cruz is in the center of a sex scandal due to an article published in the National Enquirer that claims he has had five mistresses recently, or in the duration of the campaign. This comes on the heels of a twitter war between Donald Trump and Ted Cruz, over an online photo that an anti-Trump Super Pac created in favor of Cruz at the Utah caucus. Melania Trump, Donald Trump's wife, was featured in the picture posing nude or nearly nude, and it had disparaging remarks about her written on it. This prompted Donald Trump to give Ted Cruz a warning on twitter, threatening that he could "spill the beans" about Heidi Cruz, Ted's wife. Ted Cruz says that he had nothing to do with the Super Pac or that particular photo, and that Trump is a sniveling coward for threatening his wife.
Ultimately, the National Enquirer story was published, just a day or so after their exchange. Of course, Ted Cruz denies the allegations, and he blames Donald Trump for the story coming out. Cruz says that Trump's "chief political adviser", Roger Stone, was named as a source in the National Enquirer story.
Three of the five women have potentially been identified. One of the women is Katrina Pierson, a Trump campaign spokesperson/staffer. Which doesn't make much sense due to the fact that a high up Trump staffer and Ted Cruz involved sexually doesn't add up. Another woman, however, is identified as CNN contributor Amanda Carpenter. This is troubling because of the Ben Carson situation at the Iowa Caucus, where Ted Cruz's camp spread the false rumor about Carson dropping out in order to gain more votes, which was ultimately blamed on a CNN story. The most damning person of all that was identified is Sarah Isgur Flores, a very powerful political operative, also a Carly Fiorina staffer. Which would explain the $500,000 given by a Ted Cruz Super Pac to a Carly Fiorina Super Pac last year.
