17:26Now PlayingNPR’s “Code Switch” posted an opinion piece about whites or “non POC folk” using black emojis while texting. It was based on a letter from a concerned mother who was asking for advice on how to talk to her (white) daughter who had been using black emojis while texting. The ensuing response was all over the place. White privilege was assumed in this situation. White privilege. Through text! It was also pointed out that a white person who uses black emojis gets to “try on black skin” without actually having to be black and suffering the consequences in real life. In this video, I read through the entire article and break it apart piece by piece.
