12:11Now PlayingA video recorded back in January of 2018 has been brought to the light in the wake of a Philadelphia Starbucks location going viral in another video. Two black men were arrested for loitering (and then trespassing) at the Philadelphia location and cries of racism have been emanating from this arrest ever since. Part of the protest appears to be scouring the internet in an attempt to find evidence to justify the protests. As a result of the video-finding mission, a video that many think proves their point has arisen from the ashes.
The video was recorded by a black man in California who said he was denied the passcode to Starbucks’ restroom. In a television interview, he admitted to not buying anything beforehand, but he told the barista that he would buy something when he came out. But she refused. According to him, moments later a white man walked in and got the bathroom code without purchasing anything. The first guy takes the white guy and confronts the store manager who is behind the counter. She says she did not give him a code.
Looks like a person gave him a code who is not the person behind the counter.
In the meantime, protests have been raging on in the streets of Philadelphia. Nothing like Baltimore or Ferguson level protesting, but protesting nonetheless. Random baristas are getting screamed at with megaphones. For no reason other than simply being a starbucks employee.
Starbucks has announced that they will be doing racial bias training on May 29th. Seems like a great marketing move to me. Wait till the story dies down and do a socially acceptable thing to regain and/or gain more credibility among their expanding base.
