Alex Jones was recently banned from Twitter, as was his company, Infowars. Twitter released a statement indicating this was as a result of harassing CNN reporter Oliver Darcy and also as a result of repeated violations in the past. Some would argue the validity of the latter point due to Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey’s own recent comments stating that Alex Jones had not violated any of their rules.

Many other social media companies banned Alex Jones from their platforms within 24 to 48 hours of one another in early August of 2018 including Apple, Spotify, Facebook, and YouTube. Pressure was immediately applied to Twitter to do the same thing but they did not, citing the aforementioned statements from Jack Dorsey.

The reason for Twitter taking that stance in early August was most likely because of controversy surrounding them about the censoring and deplatforming of conservatives for violating “terms of service” ... but not applying the same rules to non-conservatives who supposedly violate the same terms.
