10:28Now PlayingCNN’s Don Lemon said Wednesday night that he would not have shaken the hand of President Donald Trump at former President George H.W. Bush’s funeral if he was former President Barack Obama. Chris Cuomo was on air with Lemon at the time and immediately condemned his actions as “petty and small.” Lemon attempted to justify his thought process by bringing up the behavior of Trump.
Most people, including Cuomo, understand that a funeral is not the place to grandstand or take the moral high ground by force. Civility should be the order of the day at a place like a funeral, especially of a highly respected politician. Anger and vengeance have no place there - and do nothing but further entrench the opposing political side. A monumental failure of leftist politics in 2018 America has been messaging and optics. Why would anyone want to hitch their wagons to progressivism when they appear to be more regressive than anything else?
For a long time now, CNN has been a shining example of the worst of liberalism. No class, no decorum, no morals. Don Lemon’s words continue to prove that on a daily basis. Chris Cuomo is no better but at least he was the lone voice of wisdom in the room (or on the air) at CNN in that particular moment.
