as posted by the channelDuring a CNN Town Hall, Democratic Presidential hopeful Kamala Harris was asked about her support for the “Medicare For All” bill. Jake Tapper asked if Medicare for All meant the elimination of private healthcare (insurance) and she responded in the affirmative. Many Democrats will actually shy away from this response because it reveals the true plan - single payer healthcare - in which there is no private healthcare.
Some people would push back on the notion of single payer being the equivalent to abolishing private healthcare by citing Canada. While it’s true that Canada does have both single-payer and private healthcare, the private healthcare only covers things that single-payer does not cover. Single-payer is the only game in town when it comes to the majority of healthcare expenditures like hospital visits and medication.
