6:28Now PlayingThe Cubs said they are investigating an incident in which a fan sitting behind NBC Sports Chicago reporter Doug Glanville used a hand sign that means “OK” which is sometimes misconstrued as a “racist” sign. The fan used the gesture while Glanville, who is black, was making an on-air report during the Cubs’ 5-2 win over the Marlins. Over the past couple of years, nearly exclusively online, the sign has been associated with white identitarian movements.
A video originally posted to Twitter by what appears to be a fan has a caption that questions the fan’s usage of the symbol. Online outrage of course ensued thereafter. This prompted the Chicago Cubs releasing a statement saying, in part, that no such ignorant behavior shall be tolerated at Wrigley Field, and that if the person in question is identified, he could face a life ban from the park.
