In the prophetic dream where his brothers’ sheaves of grain stalks bowed down before him, the AMP version writes ‘bowed down [in respect]’ (Genesis 37:7. In their culture, bowing down before someone they respect was a way to show honor and respect (not worship). Similarly to how people curtsy or bow to the King of England, and in the past the queen. They are doing it as a way to show respect and honor, not worship. Also in African cultures, it is common for people to kneel down before a servant of God to show respect and honor (not worship).As a melting pot society that we live in these days, with humility and respect for other cultures rather than ethnocentrism, people from all parts of the world may find beauty and inspiration in other cultures and adopt certain ways of doing things (such as how people show honor) from other cultures. Even when it comes to the things of God, we should be humble to learn from people of God from all different parts of the world and with different backgrounds. The whole body of Christ needs every body part. There may be one body part that is missing revelation that another body part has.Speaking of Christianity in Africa, I have humbled myself and learned from my Spiritual Father, Prophet Dr. GeorDavie who is from a completely different culture than me (East Africa), and I can truly say there are hidden revelations that can only be found by the humble. God will hide revelations in ‘weak and foolish things,’ so truly only the humble can find them. The proud would discount and judge the ‘weak and foolish things.’ I am not ashamed, but honored and humbled to say that by God speaking through my spiritual father and seeing God move at his church in Tanzania, I’ve learned life-changing revelations about God, His Kingdom and the spiritual realm that has led to the anointing coming in my life and seeing people be set free and healed for the glory of God. It’s time to repent and lose the ethnocentrism and pride. It’s time to humble yourself like never before, so you don’t miss the great calling God has for your life!
