Space-based radar and GPS are helping us understand and map the damage caused by earthquakes, volcanoes, landslides, hurricanes and floods. Being able to see through clouds to detect changes on the ground was valuable data in FEMA’s response last year’s Hurricane Harvey, Hurricane Irma, and Hurricane Maria. Comparing urban and more remote areas helped identify damage following the 2015 Nepal earthquake and 2017 Mexico earthquakes. Join us live to learn more about NASA efforts helping improve situational awareness for disaster response.
