In 2011, Lockheed Martin hired a couple scientists to look into quantum vacuum energy. You know, just casual research into extracting energy from empty space. The VP overseeing this work had an interesting background.

Turns out he spent 20 years on the crash retrieval program. Got his PhD in materials science back in 1970 and went straight into classified work at a Lockheed facility. The scientists got official DIA letters saying they had clearance for any UAP-related information. Wright-Patterson had TRW doing similar work. Most of the major defense contractors quietly absorbed these engineers over the years, and now all that physics knowledge sits behind classification walls.
