The best way to avoid the virus is to minimize contact with rodents and their droppings. But do not sweep or vacuum rodent droppings or nests. Public health experts say this can actually cause tiny droplets containing virus particles to get into the air. Instead, if you're cleaning an area with rat or mouse droppings, wear protection and use bleach to be safe.
