Envision Athens brought together nine homeless service and law enforcement agencies for a summit on homelessness. In Athens, Georgia this problem is getting worse year after year. Why? We don’t have enough housing.
“The truth is, we simply do not have enough affordable housing and because of that, the housing we do have is usually always full and it can take years to get to the top of the waiting list.”
Many people experiencing homelessness have full time jobs, they just can’t afford to live. So despite all the hard work and successes our homeless providers can boast of, this problem will keep getting worse until we build more housing. Read the article on Athens Politics Nerd.com to learn more.
