YouTube Description
as posted by the channelOfficials with the Georgia Emergency Management and Homeland Security Agency (GEMA) are urging Florida residents evacuating due to Hurricane Milton to find refuge in Albany, Columbus, Macon and Atlanta.
Floridians are also encouraged to call ahead if they’re going to area hotels or shelters because resources in south Georgia are limited due to damages from Hurricane Helene.
On Monday afternoon, the Atlanta Motor Speedway announced it would be hosting evacuees free-of-charge at its site in Hampton.
“While our thoughts and prayers continue to be with those affected by Hurricane Helene, we’re committed to helping when storms affect communities in the southeast whenever we can,” said AMS Executive Vice President and General Manager Brandon Hutchison, according to a statement on the AMS website.
