The first female and longest-serving top cop in more than two decades in DeKalb County is planning to step down.

Police Chief Mirtha Ramos intends to resign after five years leading the DeKalb County Police Department, according to a statement from a PR firm representing her. County officials told Atlanta News First that Ramos is on administrative leave. They did not say why she was placed on administrative leave or if and why Ramos is planning to step down.
